With so many martial arts and fitness options in San Antonio, it is hard to know which is the best fit for you. Going to the gym can get boring, and it is hard to keep yourself motivated. Self defense classes often are mostly men....very few women. It is hard to find a fitness option that is exciting, fun and will keep you motivated to continue working out.
What makes Capoeira unique, is that it is a martial art...but it is a true art form as well. The slaves who created Capoeira were trying to hide what it was from their owners and overseers. So they added elements of dance, music and acrobatics to disguise their training. In doing this, they not only hid their training, but also created an art form that develops agility, flexibility, sense of self, confidence, awareness, and strength. Are you looking to train something that is as unique as you are? Try Capoeira.
From a fitness persepcitve, nothing will get you into better shape than Capoeira. Capoeira has the best of everything for your body. Stretching and movement like Yoga. Self defense like martial arts. Dance for fun....you will even learn Samba in our classes! Music for positive energy. Community to help you stay motivated and working towards your goals. The movements of Capoeira will strengthen your core. It will define and stregthen your arms, shoulders and legs. You will get more agile, stronger, more flexible and will do all of this while having fun. If you are looking for fitness in San Antonio, you need to try Brazilian Capoeira.
Our classes are half men and half women. In most martial arts classes, the classes are predominantly male. Since Capoeira is an art form, and not just a martial art, Capoeira attracts more women than other martial arts. The elements of dance, acrobatics, music, community and self expression help our classes have a higher percentage of women than other martial arts.

I love this place I have been playing Capoeira for the last 9 years and loved every second of it. The instructor, Advogado is very well versed in Capoeira history. He is a great instructor and teach anyone who is willing to try. I highly recommend everyone try capoeira at least once. If it's not for you at least you can say you tried. The students are friendly and willing to help anyone trying to learn.

I started training with Brazilian Capoeira in January 2011 as something to supplement my running. I've never been one for working out in gyms and weight lifting. For me, Capoeira has great core workout. Think Tae Bo, Power Yoga and music rolled into one workout. READ MORE

I was looking for something active for my youngest daughter (age 11) to do, and we had tried a Taekwondo school and Shaolin-do school. My daughter was unimpressed with Shaolin-do and I was thoroughly disgusted by the teachers at the Taekwondo money-pit. READ MORE
